The purpose of my company, Emphasis on Excellence, Inc. is changing what people know, feel, dream, and do through workshops, seminars, coaching, and consulting.

The “Make a Difference (and Make Money) Teaching Teachers” seminar, offered most recently during the summer of 2007, fits in with my philosophy and my purpose…and the place where I am in my life.

According to the Gallup Organization’s Strengthsfinder® Profile, my strengths (which come as no shock to anyone who knows me) are:

• Strategic:  People strong in the Strategic theme sort through the clutter and find the best route.  When faced with any given scenario, they can quickly spot the relevant patterns and issues—and then they move forward.
• Maximizer:  People strong in the Maximizer theme focus on strengths as a way to stimulate personal and group excellence. They seek to transform something strong into something superb.  Those with the Maximizer strength live to find and work with other excellent people.
• Intellection:  Those who exhibit the Intellection theme love to think and engage in mental activity. The theme of Intellection does not dictate what the person thinks about; it simply describes that he/she likes to think.  Wherever the introspection leads people with the Intellection theme, this mental hum is one of the constants of their lives.
• Significance:  People strong in the Significance theme want to be very important in the eyes of others. They are independent and want to be recognized.  In addition to wanting to be admired as credible, professional, and successful, they want to associate with others who are credible, professional, and successful.
• Achiever:  People strong in the Achiever theme have a great deal of stamina and work hard because of the internal fire that drives them to accomplish.  They take great satisfaction from being busy, productive, and moving forward on new tasks and challenges.

I combine these strengths along with 30 years of speaking, training, teaching, writing, and presenting to design a workshop that will let you deliver your talents, passion, and knowledge to others—and get paid to do so.

• Entrepreneur since 4th grade.

• Classroom teacher (K-12 system) from 1977 – 1984.

• Started offering workshops for other teachers in my district during my first year of teaching in 1977.

• Fees have gone from FREE – $75 – $250 – $500 – $1000 – $1500 – $2000 – $2500 – $3500 – $4250 – $5500 and beyond….

• Award-winning, tenured, full-professor in College of Education at the University of Nevada, Reno for 10 years.

• Founding Director of the Excellence in Teaching Program at the University of Nevada, Reno where I offered seminars, workshops, and consulting throughout the University and Community College System of Nevada (5+ years).

• 30 years of professional and personal experience as a local, state, regional, national, and international keynote speaker, workshop and seminar leader, and conference presenter.

• Education (B.A. and M.S. in Education; Ph.D. in Reading Education & Linguistics).

• Never-ending learner (books, tapes, classes, conferences, coaching, teleseminars, mastermind group).
