“The Make a Difference workshop is an opportunity to change the way we think as teachers. This seminar affirms the value and expertise we own, and encourages
us to offer that to the world.” - Rosemary Holmes-Gull
I was raised with the idea that we need to be of service to others—and it’s not
surprising that I became a teacher. After exploring that path (both elementary and
high school),
I knew I wanted to be able to teach teachers and thus, I earned my doctorate
and taught
in two colleges of education (University of North Texas and University of
Nevada, Reno).
But then, I had the chance to start a program at UNR to teach professors, and the
Excellence in Teaching Program was born. WOW! What a blast that was, too.
And all along, from my first year of teaching in 1977 right up through today, I’ve always
taught others beyond those who were my “students.” This included teachers, business owners, government employees, secretaries, managers, principals—people interested in learning (or at least it was always my calling to help them be more interested in learning!)
“This is a great seminar for anyone (educators mostly) who want to branch out
to start their own business. When I first started taking classes from Meggin years ago,
I told my husband “she makes me feel like my job as a teacher is important.”
In the same way today she makes me feel that my dreams for the future
are important and accomplishable.” - Sandy Culp
About a dozen years ago, people started asking me to teach a class to help them learn
how to become better speakers and workshop presenters. I did that, and it was fun.
Then there were more requests and people wanted to know if they could do this (i.e.,
speak, consult, write, etc.) well and make some additional money, while still keeping their “regular” jobs. So, I created some workshops on that topic and they were a big success
(and helped raise a lot of money for a scholarship program I have for women, by the way).
“If you are serious about organizing and starting your own business, this is
the seminar for you. It is inspirational and informative. Meggin takes you
step by step to begin the process. She eliminates the fear and apprehension
that goes with making that first step. Plus, the materials you receive
are invaluable.” - Michon Pincolini
The requests have continued and the interest remains unabated, so now I’m moving
these seminars out across the U.S. so that it’s easier for those who are interested (and qualified) to take part in the workshops. In the past, I’ve only offered these seminars in
the Reno area, and while this is a great place and many people from around the world
love to travel here, I’ve chosen an additional location for 2008.
Are you ready to explore more about how to “Make a Difference (and Make Money) Teaching Teachers?” I hope so.
“This workshop is months’ (really years’) worth of information gathered and
organized into one week of jam-packed, thought-provoking energy.”
- Sarah Negrete
